Superbowl XLVI - New York Giants vs New England Patriots

Super Bowl XLVI the New York Giants faced off against the New England Patriots. The game was a huge spectacle where football fans and non football fans tune in. In this blog I am going to talk about the game itself and the halftime show.

In the rematch from Super Bowl XLII, the New England Patriots once again fell short to the 2012 Super Bowl champions the New York Giants. The final score was 21-17. The game was exciting from beginning to end. In the first quarter of the game, the Giants scored 9 points. Tom Brady was flagged for intentional grounding, and because he was in the end zone this resulted in a safety giving the Giants the 2-0 lead. Eli Manning then threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Victor Cruz, which gave the Giants the 9-0 lead to end the first quarter. In the second quarter the Patriots scored 13 points. Patriot’s kicker Stephen Gostkowski kicked a 29-yard field goal to bring the score to 9-3. Tom Brady then threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to running backs Danny Woodhead giving the Patriots the 10-9 lead going into halftime.

The halftime show was performed by Madonna. The performance featured many guest performers such as LMFAO, Cee Lo Green, Nicki Minaj, M.I.A. and Cirque de Soleil. The production of the halftime show was great and so was all the choreography. In my opinion I can’t say the performance was great. A lot of the performance looked as if it was lip-synced. LMFAO were the best part of the performance and they should have just performed the whole thing, which would have made for a great halftime show.

The second half of the game opened up with Tom Brady throwing a touchdown pass to tight end Aaron Hernandez, increasing the lead to 17-9. This ended the point scoring for Tom Brady and Patriots. The Giants scored two field goals kicked by Lawrence Tynes to bring the score to 17-15. In the fourth quarter the Giants attempted to run out the clock and win the game by a field goal to not allow the Patriots a chance to win the game. The Patriots allowed the Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw to run into the end zone, which Bradshaw attempted to stop but fell into the end zone. The giants then failed to get the 2 point conversion which brought the score to 21-15. This allowed the Patriots a chance to come back and win the game but they fell short and the New York Giants won the 2012 Super Bowl.
