I had previously thought that is was too soon for a reboot, since the last Spider-Man movie was released in 2007. Once I saw the trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man I realized that it was a good decision to reboot the series. Andrew Garfield looks the part of Peter Parker and the Spider-man costume looks great and includes web shooters. In the trailer Spider-Man doesn’t have his mask on a lot of the time, which could be a major gripe to fans. Garfield also plays a wise cracking Spider-Man which is a relief because that is part of the Spider-Man character, that wasn’t shown enough in the older film series. Emma Stone looks like a good fit for Gwen Stacy but I can’t help but think she would have been better for Mary Jane Watson. The Lizard in the few shots he can be seen in looks great and I can’t wait to see what he looks like when the movie is released.
The plot of the movie will center around how Peter Parker became Spider-Man, while on a search to find out the truth about his father. He will begin to date Gwen Stacy and befriend Dr. Curt Connors, who will use compound he and Parker created to become the Lizard. It will then be up to Spider-Man to stop the Lizard and escape from the New York police department who have issued an arrest warrant for him. This movie looks great and I can’t wait to see it on July 3rd, 2012.
